The LAV-300 is an American 6×6 light armored vehicle originally developed by Cadillac Gage in the late 1970s, first entering service in the early 1980s as the V-300 before being renamed LAV-300. It was designed for reconnaissance, troop transport and combat support roles, carrying a crew of three plus up to nine passengers. Its high-hardness steel armor protects against 7.62 mm rounds, and it can be fitted with a variety of turrets or weapons including machine guns, cannons and anti-tank systems. Powered by a turbocharged diesel engine, the LAV-300 can reach speeds of about 105 km/h on roads and has a range approaching 925 km. Amphibious capability and multiple mission-specific variants make it versatile for diverse military operations.
