The Cutlass was a short slashing sword, ideal for the close- quarters battles aboard great sailing men-of-war. Generally regarded as a pirate weapon, the cutlass was, in fact, issued to the naval personnel of many countries. This French Boarding Cutlass is similar to the U.S. Marine cutlass and was used by Pirates roaming the Spanish Main and features a curved metal blade, simulated brass handle, and leather scabbard with brass fittings. The blades of Denix daggers and swords are cast from a metal alloy and cannot be sharpened, making them safe for display in family environments.
