About the TBF Avenger
Introduced during World War II to replace the TBD Devastator, the Avenger carried a crew of three and could deliver torpedoes, bombs or depth charges. Powered by a Wright R-2600 engine, it played a key role at the Battle of Midway and became a mainstay of U.S. Navy carrier operations for the rest of the war.
