Take advantage of the rare opportunity to own commemorative artwork signed by a World War II aviator!

Stan Stokes. The Douglas DC-3, one of the most successful aircraft designs in history, was introduced as a passenger airliner with United in 1936. It fashioned its cabin on the luxurious Pullman railway cars of the era, offering numerous comforts for the first time including on-board lavatories and increased insulation to minimize engine noise. At the outbreak of World War II, Douglas set to work on a military transport variant known as the C-47 Skytrain — or "Gooney Bird." This Signature Edition print shows a Gooney Bird, alongside a Beech Staggerwing biplane, at the Santa Barbara airport in the early 1950s. Signed by the artist and Captain Carl E. Recknagel, an Air Corps aviator who supervised C-47 flights in the Mediterranean during World War II. 16"x 11½".
