The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk is a single-seat, subsonic carrier-capable light attack aircraft. Originally designated A4D, it was developed by Douglas Aircraft Company (later McDonnell Douglas) as a replacement for the propeller-driven A-1 Skyraider.
