This French battle axe of the infantry is a military version of the traditional lumberjack axes. This lighter battle axe allowed the soldier to brandish it with greater ease and the sharp blade proved to be more effective. During this time, the appearance of plate armor led to the specialization of axes resulting in the blade to be on the opposite side of the sheet and a vertical blade on the top. This is because the penetration was a determining factor for perforating the armor.
This beautiful replica is crafted from hardwood and cast zinc alloy. These replica axes feature false edges and the decorative elements true to their history.
