A simplified and more affordable upgrade of the PPD-40 introduced in 1935, the PPSh-41 sub machinegun was one of the main weapons of the Soviet Armed Forces beginning in 1941. An incredible six million units were manufactured during and just after World War II, and the gun has seen combat duty in at least ten wars, including the Second World War, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
