The F-4 Phantom II is a twin-engine, all-weather, long-range supersonic jet interceptor and fighter-bomber developed by McDonnell Aircraft for the U.S. Navy, and later adopted by the Air Force and Marine Corps. Introduced in the 1960s, the F-4 became a symbol of American airpower during the Vietnam War. Known for its speed (over Mach 2.2), powerful radar, and heavy weapons load, it served in various roles including air superiority, ground attack, and reconnaissance.
