About the Iron Brigade
The Iron Brigade was a Union Army infantry brigade known for its distinctive tall black Hardee hats and for the heavy losses it took in combat, most notably in D.R. Miller's cornfield at the Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862, one of the bloodiest single engagements of the Civil War. This figure depicts a charging soldier in the brigade's regulation dark blue frock coat, light blue trousers, and Hardee hat.
