About Cantacuzino's Bf 109

Following Romania's break from the Axis in August 1944, Cantacuzino flew this Bf 109G-6 - repainted with American markings - from Romania to the Allied airbase at Foggia, Italy, carrying Lt. Col. James A. Gunn III, the senior American POW held in Romania, ahead of the Allied airlift that repatriated the remaining POWs.
