Stan Stokes. The most successful flying boat ever produced, the PBY Catalina was manufactured for ten years and was used by the U.S. Navy throughout World War II. Given the lack of available airfields, the Catalina's greatest strength was its ability to land on any river, lake, or estuary. This print shows a Hawaiian-based PBY-2, dressed in pre-war markings and lacking the fuselage window blisters of later variants, flying over Diamond Head on a typically beautiful Pacific day. This 16"x 11½" print is signed by the artist.
