The Su-33 Flanker is a carrier-based multirole fighter developed by Sukhoi for the Russian Navy. Derived from the Su-27, it features strengthened landing gear, folding wings, enlarged canards, and an arrestor hook for operations from aircraft carriers. Powered by two turbofan engines, the aircraft offers excellent maneuverability, long range, and high speed, making it effective in fleet air defense and maritime patrol missions. Its advanced avionics and radar enable it to engage both aerial and surface targets while carrying a variety of guided missiles and conventional weapons. Although produced in relatively limited numbers, the Su-33 remains an important component of Russian naval aviation, demonstrating the adaptability of the Flanker family and its enduring capability in demanding carrier operations at sea.
