About the Semovente M43
Developed on the modified, widened and lowered chassis of the M15/42 tank, the M43 mounted an Ansaldo 105/25 howitzer in a casemate with improved frontal armor. It entered service with the Royal Italian Army in limited numbers in 1943 and is considered one of the most capable Italian armored vehicles of the war. After Italy's 1943 armistice, captured examples were pressed into German service as the StuG M43 mit 105/25.
