The Pacific Profiles series presents detailed profiles of aircraft that served in the South Pacific theater during World War II. Volume Seven covers the Douglas C-47 and its derivatives, including the C-53, R4D and DC-3, which were flown throughout the theater from the first day of the war to its end by the USAAF, USN, USMC, RAAF, RNZAF, RAF and Dutch Air Force. Many of the profiles appear for the first time, drawing on photographs, official records, diaries and information from wreck sites to document unit markings that had previously gone largely undocumented, particularly for Thirteenth Air Force C-47s and Marine Corps R4Ds.
