About “Dottie Mae”
The real P-47D 42-29150 “Dottie Mae” was recovered from Lake Traun in Austria and returned to the air in June 2017 following a lengthy restoration, making it one of the most historically significant airworthy wartime fighters in the world. During the war, the aircraft was lost on a low-altitude flight over Lake Traun near Ebensee, Austria — not to enemy action — making it the last Allied fighter lost in the European theater before the war's end.
