About Giora Epstein and the Mirage III
The Dassault Mirage III was a French delta-wing supersonic fighter that became one of Europe's most successful combat aircraft of its era, seeing extensive service with the Israeli Air Force, including during the Six-Day War. Flying the Mirage III and later the Israeli-built Nesher, Giora Epstein scored 17 aerial victories, becoming the leading jet-versus-jet ace of the supersonic era, with his first kill coming on June 6, 1967 against an Egyptian Su-7 near El Arish.
