The M4 Sherman was the most common battle tank used by the Allies during World War II and saw numerous variants with a total of almost 50,000 units manufactured. It was reliable and mobile, first seeing action in 1942, and remaining in service for the United States until 1955. It is still in operational duty in some nations around the world.
