Henry H. Arnold, known as "Hap" Arnold, was a pioneering American aviator and one of the most important leaders in U.S. military aviation history. A protégé of the Wright brothers, he was among the first military pilots and helped shape the development of air power. During World War II, Arnold served as Commanding General of the U.S. Army Air Forces, overseeing its massive expansion into a global force. He coordinated strategic bombing campaigns and advanced aircraft technology. Arnold was the only officer to hold the rank of General of the Air Force. His vision, leadership, and commitment to innovation helped establish the United States as a dominant air power and laid the foundation for the modern U.S. Air Force.
