The F9F Panther, flown by U.S. Marine Corps squadrons during the Korean War, was a rugged and dependable carrier-capable jet fighter. Operating from both aircraft carriers and forward land bases, Marine pilots relied on its stability and firepower for close air support missions. Equipped with four 20mm cannons and capable of carrying bombs, rockets, and napalm, the F9F was effective against enemy troops, supply lines, and fortified positions. Its straight-wing design allowed for steady handling at lower speeds, which was ideal for precision strikes in support of ground forces. Though not the fastest jet of its era, the Marine-operated Panther earned a reputation for durability, versatility, and its critical role in supporting troops in difficult combat environments.
