About the Book

While the best-known Guadalcanal air battles pitted F4F Wildcats against Mitsubishi Zero fighters, Wildcats also fought the A6M2-N "Rufe," a floatplane variant of the Zero that American pilots called the "Zero on floats." Drawing on operational documents, combat reports, and firsthand accounts from pilots on both sides, the book reconstructs these lesser-known confrontations fought above the Solomon Islands in 1942-43.
