The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) F/A-18 Hornet is a twin-engine, supersonic multirole combat aircraft designed for both fighter and attack missions. Developed in the 1970s for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, it is capable of operating from aircraft carriers and land bases alike. The Hornet combines agility, speed, and advanced avionics to perform air superiority, ground attack, reconnaissance, and close air support missions. Powered by two General Electric F404 engines, it reaches speeds over Mach 1.8 and features fly-by-wire controls for superior maneuverability.
