About the F-86 Sabre
Developed by North American Aviation and introduced in 1949, the F-86 Sabre became one of the most prominent aircraft of the Korean War, where it faced Soviet-built MiG-15 fighters. Powered by a General Electric J47 engine and armed with six .50-caliber M3 machine guns, it could also carry rockets or bombs for ground attack. More than 9,800 were built, and the Sabre served with numerous air forces during the Cold War era.
