About the F-5N and VFC-111
A single-seat variant based on the F-5E airframe, the F-5N was acquired by the U.S. Navy for dissimilar air combat training, its small size and high maneuverability making it well suited to simulating enemy fighters. VFC-111, the "Sundowners," flies F-5Ns from Naval Air Station Key West, Florida, in the adversary role.
