About the F-4 Phantom II
Developed by McDonnell Aircraft for the U.S. Navy and later adopted by the Air Force and Marine Corps, the twin-engine F-4 Phantom II entered service in the 1960s and could exceed Mach 2.2. VF-96 "Fighting Falcons" flew the F-4J from carriers such as USS Constellation, and the type became a symbol of American naval airpower during and after the Vietnam War era.
