The F-22 Raptor is a fifth-generation, single-seat, twin-engine stealth fighter developed by Lockheed Martin for the United States Air Force. Designed primarily as an air superiority fighter, it also possesses ground attack, electronic warfare, and intelligence capabilities. The F-22 features advanced stealth technology, thrust-vectoring nozzles, and supercruise capability—allowing it to fly at supersonic speeds without afterburners. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney F119 engines, it combines speed, agility, and situational awareness with low observability. Its sensor fusion and integrated avionics give pilots a decisive edge in combat, enabling real-time data sharing and threat engagement. The Raptor carries a mix of air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons internally to maintain stealth. First operational in 2005, it remains one of the most advanced and lethal fighter aircraft in the world. Though production ended in 2012, the F-22 continues to play a key role in maintaining U.S. air dominance in contested environments.
