Boeing B-47 StratoJet: USAF Long-Range Six-Engine Strategic Bomber- DVD

Features

  • Includes 6 short films
  • Approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes of runtime
The Boeing B-47 was a long-range, six-engine, jet-powered strategic bomber designed to fly at high subsonic speeds (600 mph) and at high altitudes to avoid enemy interception. The B-47's mission was primarily to drop nuclear bombs on the Soviet Union. With its engines carried in pods under the swept wings, plus the fact that the wings could flex up to 11 ft, the B-47 was a major innovation in post-World War II technology. The B-47 was so advanced that most folks that that it could not really fly, or at least fly safely. It turned out to be a great flying aircraft, except for it's hot landings. The included 6 short films explores the history of the B-47.
