About Jan Reznak and 13.(Slovak)/JG 52
13. Staffel (slowakisch), Jagdgeschwader 52, was a Slovak-manned unit that flew Messerschmitt Bf 109s on the Eastern Front under Luftwaffe command between 1941 and 1943. Jan Reznak trained on the Bf 109 at Grve, Denmark, in 1942 and flew two tours on the Eastern Front, finishing the war with 32 confirmed aerial victories, making him Slovakia's leading fighter ace. The Bf 109 itself served as the backbone of the Luftwaffe from its 1937 introduction, and with more than 33,000 built, it remains the most-produced German aircraft of World War II.
