About the Bristol Beaufighter
Developed by the Bristol Aeroplane Company from the earlier Beaufort torpedo bomber, the Beaufighter combined powerful twin engines with heavy armament, including four 20mm cannons and multiple machine guns, and rugged durability. It became one of the RAF's first successful radar-equipped night fighters, intercepting German bombers during nighttime raids, and several RCAF squadrons flew the type from bases in England in the night-fighter and maritime-strike roles during World War II.
