Since 1974, Bburago has turned out die-cast model cars known for faithfully scaled Italian and European sports cars alongside officially licensed Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Formula 1 replicas. Named for its founders and their hometown of Burago di Molgora, Italy, the brand has weathered a bankruptcy, a change in ownership, and a shift in manufacturing base without losing its focus on affordable, detail-rich diecast across 1:18, 1:24, and 1:43 scale.

About Bburago

Bburago was founded in 1974 by brothers Mario, Ugo, and Martino Besana in Burago di Molgora, Italy — initially under the name Martoys before adopting the Bburago name (a play on the founders' surname and hometown) in 1976. The company built its reputation on affordable, well-detailed die-cast cars manufactured in Italy, spanning vintage 1930s automobiles to contemporary Ferraris and Lamborghinis, across 1:16, 1:18, 1:24, and 1:43 scales.

Rising Italian production costs and competition from Asian manufacturers led Bburago into bankruptcy in 2005. The May Cheong Group — Maisto's parent company — acquired the brand in 2006 and relaunched it in 2007 with manufacturing shifted to China and Thailand, positioning Bburago to focus on European vehicle models while Maisto covers a broader global lineup.

What Makes Bburago Collectible

Bburago's catalog leans into officially licensed European performance cars — Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Alfa Romeo among them — along with current Formula 1 team liveries and driver figures, cast in die-cast metal across a range of display scales from pocket-sized 1:43 to display-shelf 1:18. The brand's decades-long focus on Italian and European marques gives it a distinct identity among diecast car brands, appealing to collectors who want that specific lineage alongside broader Ferrari and F1 memorabilia.

Popular Bburago Series

Two lines stand out in the current catalog:

Signature Series: premium-finish 1:43 scale Ferrari models with upgraded detailing.
Formula 1 Collection: current-season F1 team cars in 1:18, 1:24, and 1:43 scale, several paired with driver figures or helmets.
