About the Doolittle Raid
Launched from the carrier USS Hornet, the Doolittle Raid was the first American air attack on the Japanese home islands. "Whirling Dervish," crewed by Crew #9, targeted the Tokyo Gas and Electric Company before its crew bailed out over China and made their way back to friendly territory.
