About the AH-1W Super Cobra
The USMC began flying the AH-1W Super Cobra in 1986, with the last example delivered in 1998; the type was retired in October 2020 after 34 years of service and replaced by the AH-1Z Viper. The Super Cobra was the first attack helicopter cleared to carry both the AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missile and the AGM-122 Sidearm anti-radiation missile.
