The A-7 Corsair II is a carrier-capable, subsonic attack aircraft developed by Ling-Temco-Vought in the 1960s for the U.S. Navy and later used by the Air Force and allied nations. Designed as a compact, reliable strike aircraft, it features a high-lift wing, advanced avionics for its time, and a single turbofan engine that provides excellent fuel efficiency and long-range capability. The A-7 excelled in precision ground-attack missions, carrying bombs, rockets, and missiles with remarkable accuracy, aided by its integrated navigation and targeting systems. Its robust airframe and relatively low maintenance requirements made it a workhorse during the Vietnam War and beyond. With its combination of endurance, payload, and simplicity, the A-7 Corsair II became a highly effective, versatile aircraft in both naval and tactical strike roles.
