About the A-10 Thunderbolt II

The A-10 Thunderbolt II, widely nicknamed the "Warthog," was designed around its GAU-8 Avenger rotary cannon and built to survive ground fire while providing close air support to troops. It has served in the U.S. Air Force inventory since the late 1970s and remains associated with low-altitude, anti-armor and infantry support missions.
