About the "Black Eagle" Note
The Series 1899 One-Dollar Silver Certificate, nicknamed the "Black Eagle" for its spread-winged eagle design, was printed from 1899 into the 1920s and is the only U.S. currency ever issued to display portraits of two different presidents - Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant.
