Following Winston Churchill (played by Albert Finney in an excellent performance) in the mid-1930s as he struggles to warn the nation of the impending threat from Hitler's Germany, this film also presents the personal side of Churchill with intimate looks at his marriage to Clementine (Vanessa Redgrave) and the insolvency and personal depression against which he fought.
