The P-40 aircraft was able to battle enemy fighters with its sturdy construction, heavy firepower, and ability to dive. Having its arms, armor and engines constantly renovated, it was a formidable ground-attack aircraft. P-40s were also flown by the "Flying Tigers" against the Japanese in China.
