The H-21 Shawnee, a workhorse of the U.S. Army for its ability to perform demanding transport tasks in a variety of environments, was known as the "flying banana" for the upward angle of the aft fuselage. The angled fuselage was developed to accommodate the two powerful tandem rotors and the oversized propellers.
